flip flops...

If the weather is warm enough I will definitely be wearing flip flops! I actually got this idea from one of the many pictures that I mark off whenever I get a chance to look at some of my card making magazines...I found the stamp while visiting my parent's out in New Mexico at Guadalupe's Fun Rubber Stamps store...the stamp is made by Deadbeat Designs...when I saw that one I couldn't pass it up!...the flip flop punch is made by EK Success and the patterned paper is by MME...hip-hooray...had fun doing this one!

Fall on the Brain

As my summer break comes to end and the start of school is on the horizon I always start thinking about fall even though it is still hot and humid in Northern Virginia...I went through my fall stamps and pulled out my set from Recollections...dusted off my colored pencils and hoped that my blender pen worked...it did! And here is what I came up with...found the fun halloween paper at one of my local craft stores...definitely got me in the fall spirit...I forgot about this set and will be using it more now that I have rediscovered it!

Stopping By to Say Hello...

I pulled out some of my "goodies" that I recently bought from a scarpbooking convention to work on some cards...and this is what I came up with for the first card...the stamp is Scooter's Vacation by imaginisce and the paper is Sweet Summer Time by Little Yellow Bicycle...I love the colors that they used in this pattnern...I spelled out hello with thickers that are called Stroll...I stamped the scooter in Basic Black from Stampin' Up! and then colored it with their stampin' write in Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Pacific Point, and Real Red. I had fun making this card and will continue to pull out more of my "goodies" to make more cards! :)

Two of my favorite things to do after being a mom :) is camping and stamping...my husband and I are big fans of camping and so far our son is having a good time with it too...every summer I seem to have camping on the brain and decided to look on the net for some camping theme stamps and found several...I do have a camping theme set from SU! that I got several years ago but wanted to find some more fun campy stamps...which I did after searching high and low on the net...This card is for my monthly swap and used one of my new stamps the tree...the boot is from SU! and the tree is from imaginisce from the Happy Camper Collection...I got a couple from this collection and this summer will be using them alot when making cards since I can combine two of my favorite things together!

Simple Hello

I really like simplicity when it comes to my cards and I am really happy how this turned out...the other day I sat down to look at some of my paper crafting magazines and noted several cards that I wanted to try and this one was on the top of the list...the inspiration for this card actually was an advertisment for a paper company...I used my Cricut to cut out the flower...the pattern paper and button is from SU! and I used thickers to spell out hello...I am thinking about making a set of cards using the flower and pattern paper but in different colors and different simple sentiments...

Baby Cards Galore

For the past several months my main focus on card making has been babies. I have several friends who are due and have had two so far come early with their little ones. I have made each of them a set of cards and two more friends this week will be getting them as their baby shower gifts. I am looking forward to having them see their cards.

Hogs and Kisses

My husband bought my a Cricut for Valentine's Day and I am having fun trying to figure out all the bells and whistles that it comes with. The pig and sentiment come from the Just Because cartridge. I feel like I am at the tip of the ice berg with this cartridge and the ones that came with my Cricut. I used my usual Crumb Cake, Red Riding Hood SU! card stock, and the pattern paper is from the paper kit Alphabet Soup by My Mind's Eye.

Southwestern Thank You

One of my stamping sisters sent me a really cute card kit and stamps from We R Memories and I had the perfect opprotunity to use some of it as a thank you card. My mom is in town from Alburquerque visiting us during my spring break and one of her good friends sent my son some gifts with her and this is the card I ended up making for her. I used my usual Crumb Cake for the card, and Stampin' Up! Red Riding Hood and Old Olive inks, the same for the card stock plus their Pacific Point card stock too. The stamp I used is from Inkadinkado. This is one of my first attempts to cut free hand...I think the pepper and lime turned out pretty good for my first time...

Chirp Up!

I've been meaning to try out some of my new things and finally got to them! My new embellishment seems to be stickers these days and I found these stickers by American Crafts at A.C. Moore. The stamp that I used is from Craft Smart...found it in the dollar bin at Michael's...love looking in their dollar bin...some of my favorite stamps have been found searching through there...the paper I used is from Cosmo Cricket...Garden Variety and the colors are Stampin' Up! Baja Breeze, Ruby Red, and Old Olive (one of my favorite colors)...as usual I used their Crumb Cake for the card and random cream colored cardstock that I plucked out of one of my bins full of random colors...I really had fun using this stamp, the stickers, and paper...I really like how this card came out...

Baby Steps

For the past several months I have been making baby cards and it has been a lot of fun. I am going to a good friend's shower tomorrow and this is the card that I made for her. I recently discovered alphabet stickers and bought some today and thought how could I use them with her card. So here is what I ended up creating. I stuck with my traditional Stampin' Up! Crumb Cake, used my Stampin' Up! stamp Baby Steps, and their Chocolate Chip ink, and Recollections Alpha Adhesive Stacks, and some ribbon. I really liked how it turned out and hopefully she will like it too!

Bee...Cuz

.Whenever I make a card I like to take a picture of it. From time to time I like to look through them to get some inspiration when I have what I call "card maker's" block. Tonight I went through them and found this card that I made last year from my grandmother just becasue...although most of my cards I tend to make with kraft paper occasionally I stray away and use a different color like with this one. The stamps are from Stampin' Up! and same for the ink, Chocolate Chip. I also used a premade card.

cute as a button

A good friend of mine is expecting a little girl any day now and I am so happy for her. While I was making a set of cards for her I found this Martha Stewart punch and thought of the phrase cute as a button immediately. I used alphabet stamps to make the sentiment and Stampin' Up! Crumb Cake card stock,  Stampin' Up! Chocolate Chip ink, and Stampin' Up Nursery Suite Designer Series Paper.

Fun 3x3 Card

What to do with my left over paper? I  make 3x3 cards...this one is from a set that I made for my sister-in-law's birthday present. (the one who got me started with stamping) I broke out my new paper from Cosmo Cricket. I used a one inch circle punch and a square scallop punch. The heart stamp is from Stampin Up!, and Stampin' Up! Wild Wasabi ink, which is one of my favorite colors from them along with their Crumb Cake card stock.

New Fun Paper

What can I say I love paper...especially when it comes to fun colors and designs. I recently discovered Cosmo Cricket while surfing the internet one day and fell in love with their paper. Below is a card with some of the paper that I thought is really neat and fun. It's their Garden Variety Kit. I made several cards this evening using this paper and stickers, and plan on making more this weekend.

Good Luck

Happy Saint Patrick's Day! I hope that you are wearing green today. I recently made this card for a friend of mine. Once again I am using one of my favorite sketch ideas for this card. I also used my favorite embellishments at the moment, which are buttons. I seem to go through phases of embellishments, and considering the several jars of buttons I have on my table, they seem to be the "it" embellishment for me. Though recently I have been eyeing "thickers " when I check out my favorite websites and  local craft stores. So who knows, maybe that will be my next phase of embellishments. Hope you all have a great day and that you don't get pinched!

A Cup of Tea...

Card making is defintitely among my favorite things to do along with a good cup of tea, a good friend and a great conversation. As I have gotten older I have watched friends get married, have babies, and even moved away (including myself). Even though we remain friends, getting together is not always possibe. I recently made this card for a friend of mine who has moved away and miss our wonderful conversations we used to have. After making it, I decided to tweak it for a monthly swap that I belong to, Sisterhood of the Traveling Cards. The only thing that I changed was the punch I used. For the swap I used a circle punch instead of an oval punch. This swap, "Sisterhood of theTraveling Cards", started back in 2008 and has been going strong every since.I  love being part of this swap. I have met so many wonderful women and feel proud to call them my "Sistahs" !

Thinking of You

The past several weeks I have been going through numerous card making magazines and books looking for some inspiration to try something new. I have marked soooo many pages with sticky notes, that I have lost count. This idea popped right out at me and I started thinking of the stamps that I could use, along with card stock, embellishements, and colors. I ended up making quite of few from this sketch one night, and this is on of them. I love the simplicity of it.

Family and Friends

One of things I love most about making cards is making them for family and friends. My grandmother is definitely my number one fan when it comes to my cards. Many of my friends have told me that they don't want to use my cards, they rather keep them instead. I have several friends this year who are pregnant and my gift to them is a set of baby cards. I made six sets in all, and had a blast making them. I bought specific paper, ink, and stamps to make them. I also used one of the best idea magazines around...Paper Crafts Go to Sketches. It really helped me think outside of my usually box and help me create some really fun cards. The card that I have posted is Stampin Up! stamps, ink, designer series paper, and adhesive die cuts.

Stamp Club

If it wasn't for my sister-in-law I would of never got into stamping. On a whim I decided to go to a stamp camp that she was going to and needless to say I have been hooked ever since...that was 5 years ago. I signed up that night to join her friend's (my friend and Stampin' Up! demonstrator now) stamp club, and never thought that 5 years later I would be so addicted to this craft. At my stamp club we have such a good time. It's nice to be among a bunch of women who share the same passion as me.

Here I go...

So I have decided to start a blog about my card making. I have no idea what I am doing, so this will definitely be a learning experience for me. I love making cards for family and friends and thought this would be a great place to share them.
